Hi, I have a part, complex shape, roughly 3" by 6", that I'd like cut from 11 ga steel (0.120) thick. I'll need about a dozen. The part has a couple round holes and a couple slotted holes. Is it a problem to cut the holes by either of these methods? Do they need an edge to start on? With water jet I could envision a lot of blow back trying to blast through, but maybe that's not an issue. I suppose with laser they'd have to melt through. What is a typical kerf for either of these processes? I'll be drawing these in AutoCAD, might the edge need some finishing? How far off the finished dimension should I draw the line? Please help. Thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
